This is an onion. It’s a young onion that has been picked out of the ground perhaps slightly too early. I have hear that smaller onions tend to have a stronger flavor and possibly less sweet. Onions are are a very strange vegetable. It is composed of layers. If all the layers are peeled away and discarded in search of the vegetable like many others, we may miss the vegetable itself. Wrong expectations are like this sometimes. We work through peeling away the layers in search for what we believe should be there, not realizing that we are discarding or ignoring the uniqueness of the circumstance or person and miss the very part of what was meant to be enjoyed.
